Small-group tuition · Primary to exam year

Find the gap.
Close it for good.

Every student at Prism Notch starts with a relaxed assessment, so lessons target the exact topics holding them back — not a generic syllabus rerun.

Programmes

Tuition shaped around the stage your child is at

Three programmes, one principle: master the foundations first, then build confidence on top of them.

Primary Foundations

Number sense, reading fluency and clear writing, taught through short, focused tasks that make progress visible week to week.

  • Maths
  • English
  • Reasoning

Secondary Core

Algebra, essay structure and scientific method, with worked examples first and independent practice straight after.

  • Maths
  • English
  • Science

Exam-Year Intensive

Timed past-paper practice, mark-scheme thinking and revision plans that spread the load instead of cramming it.

  • Maths
  • English
  • Sciences

Our method

Four steps from “I’m stuck” to “I’ve got this”

A simple, repeatable process so students always know why they are working on something.

  1. Friendly assessment

A relaxed session with a tutor to see how your child thinks through problems, where confidence dips and which topics need rebuilding.

  2. A tailored learning plan

We map the gaps into a term plan and place your child in the group that matches their current level, not just their school year.

  3. Focused small-group lessons

Each lesson introduces one idea, practises it together, then checks understanding before moving on.

  4. Regular progress check-ins

Short written notes after each block of lessons, plus a review conversation each term to adjust the plan.

Questions

Good to know before you enquire

Can’t see your question? Add it to the enquiry form and we’ll answer it in our reply.

What happens in the first assessment?

Your child works through a few short, low-pressure tasks with a tutor. It isn’t a test to pass — it simply shows us where to start. Afterwards we share what we noticed and suggest a group or format.

How are groups arranged?

Groups are kept small and organised by current level and subject, so students work alongside peers tackling similar material.

What if my child misses a lesson?

Let us know in advance and we’ll share the lesson notes and practice tasks, and where possible offer a place in a parallel group that week.

How much homework is set?

Short, targeted practice designed to fit around school work. The aim is consolidation, not extra pressure.

Can we try it before committing to a term?

Yes. After the assessment, your child can join a trial lesson in their suggested group before you decide.
